Civilizations have relied on food, vitamins, minerals, herbs, spices and medicinal remedies to promote health and cure illness for thousands of years. A whole foods diet, one that avoids the health sabotaging foods our culture has accepted and one that focuses on the most nutrient dense, organic foods is the first and most significant step in living a physically healthy life.
Though an organic, whole foods diet will provide you with the majority of your calories and some of your nutrient requirements, nearly all of us can benefit tremendously from supplementing nutrients. The need to supplement in today's world is due to the fact that our food is far less nutrient dense than was just 75 years ago. The effects of mass farming, over farming, non organic farming and a host of other factors has lead to a significant depletion in the world's soil qualities. Without soil that is high in the nutrients our bodies need to thrive, our food, both plants and animals will also lack the nutrients we need. Lack of nutrient dense food, coupled with the high demands our current lifestyle has lead to an obvious need for supplementation. Below is a panel of supplements that I believe to be healthy, useful, necessary and second to none.
