Hi.

Welcome to the Enlightened Neanderthal.

What and Why?

What and Why?

“Part of joy in learning is that it puts me in a position to teach; nothing, however outstanding and however helpful, will ever give me any pleasure if the knowledge is to be for my benefit alone.”
― Seneca

Our society has no shortage of commentary and opinions on topics like nutrition, health, fitness, biohacking and psychology.  I questioned if putting another blog into the abyss of the World Wide Web would be worth the cloud space.  This isn’t my job, I have a job, that I love.  I guess I would call it a passion and a discipline that I enjoy.  I have traveled through a terrain which others will likely have to encounter at some point or another.  Looking back at my experience, I feel I can provide a useful map suggesting which paths to take and which to avoid.  Hopefully with this map others can travel the same terrain with more ease than I did.  Yes, there are some who have traveled through similar territories in these fields and may have similar maps, all of which are useful.  I have a unique perspective, as no one person’s experience is ever the same.

I was a division 1 athlete.  I built muscle, gained weight, lost weight, gained strength, lost strength, ran a marathon, quit running(well, at least distance), ate everything, ate nothing, avoided thinking, thought too much, lost my health and gained it back.  I have dealt with an array of sports injuries from one of the most brutal sports in society.  I have navigated through digestive problems like pancreatitis and gluten intolerance.  Some of these issues were devastating but finding solutions and gaining control over them made the obstacles well worth the discomfort.

I believe that I am knowledgeable enough to control a significant amount of my physiology and my psychology.  The realization that I can control these things, which have a direct impact on the quality of my life, brings a very motivating feeling.  This is what fuels my desire to continue learning and to share my experience with others.  I am not a doctor, a certified nutritionist or a certified personal trainer.  I do have results, personal experiments, and knowledge to offer to those looking for a helpful road map to guide their path.

If you have any questions or comments please share them at the bottom.
